The Republic of Senegal is a country of West Africa. It is bordered by the Atlantic ocean to the West, Mauritania to the North and the East, Mali to the East and Guinea and Guinea-Bissau to the South. 

Senegal has the fourth economy in the West African sub-region after Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana. The country is the second largest economy in French-speaking West Africa  behind the Ivory Coast . its economy is very oriented towards Europe and the India.

Senegal has 13 635 927 inhabitants (July 2014 est.) .The capital Dakar is a cosmopolitan city, with1 056 009 people. Economic center and city of Congress, Dakar also benefits from a significant business tourism. The Mall Sea Plaza on the Corniche  is the largest of the West African sub-region and includes several 

large international brands. 

The ethnic groups are: Wolof 43.3%, Pular 23.8%, Serer 14.7%, Jola 3.7%, Mandinka 3%, Soninke 1.1%. 10.4% of the population is expatriate, most of them are European and Lebanese.

Languages: French (official), Wolof, Pulaar, Jola, Mandinka

94% of the population is Muslim and 5% Christian. There is also 1% of indigenous beliefs
